Mackay is situated on the North East Coast in Australia, 300kM North of the Tropic of Capricorn. It is 8 hours drive south of Cairns and 11/2 hrs drive South of Airlee Beach. Offshore, the great barrier reef, prevents anything but wind chop from hitting the shoreline. (cyclones excluded of course) Water temperatures range from 21o Celsius in the winter to 28o Celsius in the summer, so you can pretty well dive all year round. |
